The new 高高飛 (Where you fly)

This song has gone through a number of iterations, and I have experimented with various genres and have even performed it for festival audiences with a seven-piece band.

The lyrics try to capture an ephemeral moment, that sense of detachment from our true nature. We see a bird flying high in the sky, a fish swimming in the depths of the ocean, an ant that works incessantly in the highest of trees. And here we are - stuck in our daily lives, looking for some meaning in the trivial details of our routines among skyscrapers, night markets and the inundation of modern social media.

This new version is a straight up indie rock arrangement that drummer Stevee and I locked into during formative studio sessions in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. We worked out a tight sound, going back to the basics and we're ready to take it on the road when lockdowns around the world start coming to a close.

I performed and recorded the bass, guitars, vocals and re-created the drums in my home studio. These days I primarily mix with Ableton Live, sometimes with Logic Pro.
